1972
The first magic trick
My father taught me my first magic trick, done with a thimble. It went well. Although magic wasn't yet to become my hobby, it trigged my interest.
1977
Apprentice of the legendary Finnish magician Solmu Mäkelä
Solmu Mäkelä (1922-2018) was a renowned magician from Finland. When visiting his home together with my father, I got inspired seeing Solmu work intensely with playing cards and billiard balls. I started to visit Solmu on an almost daily basis. During these years, many colorful personalities from showbusiness visited his home and thus I also got in contact with his fascinating international network.
1978
Member of the Finnish Magic Circle
The Finnish Magic Circle was founded in 1945. It's a club for magicians, where we exchange experiences and arrange training sessions. Only 13 years old I became a member and later (2006-2012) the president of the club. Today (in 2021) the club is run by Kalle Nio.
1980
My first magic competition
As a junior magician I participated in a lot of magic competitions and won several prizes at Nordic conventions. 17 years old I competed for the first time in the world championships in Lausanne, Switzerland. Later, in 2003, I won a bronze medal at the FISM World Championship of Magic in Haag, Holland. Since then, instead of participating in competitions, I've changed to being part of the jury on many different occasions.
1984
My first international engagement
There are not so many full-time professional magicians in this world, and this might be the reason why the fellowship is often strong and encouraging. I've also built an international career. 19 years old I got my first international engagement. During this one month at the Europa Zauber Theater in Zürich, we did 10 shows every week, where I performed both a magic and a juggling act.
1991
My professional education
I have a Master's degree in Theatre and Drama. 13 years old I got the wonderful opportunity to participate in a production at the National Theatre in Finland - and my interest for the theatre was born. To choose this education was not my only alternative, I also had an interest in medicine and biology. My education as an actor has been a great support during my years as a professional magician.
1994
The Cotton Club -restaurant show
During my studies at the Theatre Academy, I learned to know actor Micke Rejström. A few years after finishing my studies, we put up a restaurant show, combining magic and theatre. Later Micke Rejström became my director for the theatre productions "Magisk Afton" at Svenska Teatern and "Taikalisä" at Teatteri Avoimet Ovet.
1995
Working as an actor
The Theatre Academy turned out to be a good choice, and after finishing my studies I worked six years as a freelance actor in many different theatres. At the same time, I continued performing as a magician in the business world. Later I've developed two profiles in my work as a professional magician: offering entertainment for corporate events and producing full evening magic shows for the theatre. Both sides are equally important parts of my identity as an artist.
1997
Starting a business
After finishing my studies, I worked both as an actor in the theatres and as a magician in the business world. However, the thought of working as a fulltime professional magician became stronger, and the company Jägerhorn Productions was founded. In the beginning the activity was mainly based on my show "The Financial Lecture" in collaboration with Jorma Valli from ShowCompany. Today my repertoire is often tailored according to the nature of the event.
2002
Magician of the Year
Every year the Finnish Magic Circle nominates a few awards for magicians. I've been awarded Magician of the Year in both 2002 and 2017. In 2017 the motivation was among other things: "--a continuous production of new shows and relentlessly honing his skills. --has successfully opened new doors for other Finnish magicians and reached out to a new audience." Besides working as an entertainer in the business world, I've devoted much of my time to create full-evening-shows that combine magic and theatre.
2003
Bronze medal in the World Championship of Magic
At the FISM World Championship of Magic in Haag I won a bronze medal with the show "8 minutes to landing". The main character experiences a series of unexpected events in an aeroplane toilet, minutes before arriving at the destination. This comedy show was directed by Neil Hardwick and has been seen in Finland, as well as in Belgium, Spain, South-Korea, USA and France.
2006
Stadra, the start of a Nordic Magic Festival
Collaboration with magicians from other Nordic countries has a special place in my heart. The Stadra Magic Festival was founded in Sweden together with actor Magnus Wetterholm and magician Malin Nilsson. Through the years the festival has invited guest artists from the Nordic countries and Germany.
2009
Premiere of the show "Magic!"
Working together with Neil Hardwick has been utterly rewarding. Hardwick directed "Magic!", premiering at the City Theatre of Helsinki. The show was also performed at the Tampere Theater Festival, the City Theatre of Oulu and the "Magiaa!" -festival in Pori. The international version of this production, now called "Waiting for Hitchcock", was awarded "Best magic show" in 2013 at the world's largest solo theatre festival United Solo in New York. The show was also seen in Stockholm, Edinburgh, Warsaw and London
2017
"ROBERT JÄGERHORN - for real?" at the City Theatre of Helsinki
To work with directors and other magicians has always been an important part of my creative process. Magician Markus Zink is well known in his home country Germany for his crazy way to combine magic and comedy. Out of the collaboration with Markus Zink my alter ego, El Droppo, was evolved, his released craziness working as a dynamic counterforce to my otherwise more low-key personality.
2018
Collaboration with three magicians
"The Great Paradox of Play" was a Nordic collaboration, with Rapid Eye Theatre as producer and Samuel Gustavsson as director. The other performers were magicians Axel Adlercreutz from Sweden, David Tholander from Denmark and musician Sture Ericson from Denmark. This "Magie Nouvelle" -production toured in Denmark and Sweden. In Finland we played both at Cirko and at the Oulu Music Festival.
2018
The Magic Castle
Ever since 1989 I've had a series of engagements at the legendary Magic Castle in Hollywood. During my 9th visit in 2018 I created a show together with my close friend and mentor, magician Alfonso Aceituno. I've also been featured in the Monday Night Magic -show in New York and in Mystique in Stockholm.
2019
Premiering "My Magic Double - just for fun" in New York
The United Solo Festival in New York invited me to their 10th anniversary celebration. This is where the show "My Magic Double -just for fun." had its world premiere. It was directed by Markus Zink. It's a visual and personal show, as good as wordless, containing a lot of music and filled with magical surprises.
2020
The first hybrid show
The corona pandemic put live events on hold, and all live artists faced a challenge: how to maintain a live interaction while doing a streamed performance. I've always been a strong advocate for performances in front of a physically present audience, but during a hybrid show part of the audience can only be reached across the screen. It was a positive surprise! During the summer 2020 I was happy to have a live performance on a daily basis in front of a limited audience, as I got a six-week-engagement on a cruise.
